I participated in a discussion recently that focused on the question, is being a nurse just a job? I think there is a bigger question that could have been broached as well, is one’s career a central feature of their identity? I think that there is much evidence that supports that it is, which is why I was surprised that so many nurses in the room viewed their nursing career as “just my job”.
