Have you ever been sitting in a staff meeting, painfully trying to sit still, constantly looking at the clock, thinking about all the work that you have to do and now you are stuck sitting in another staff meeting. Have you ever come out of a painfully long staff meeting feeling a little more lost than when the meeting started?

  1. Set an agenda- seek input from staff about the issues that are important, questions, challenges. If the content of the meeting is not meaningful to staff, silent questions may arise about the utility of the meeting.
  2. Write down the agenda- this gives the meeting attendees an idea of the topics being covered in the meeting.
  3. Stay on the point- wandering about makes people wonder, what is the point of this meeting?
  4. Keep to the schedule- people’s time is precious.
  5. Write it down- this can help bring some clarity to who is supposed to follow-up with certain tasks, and establishes what has been discussed or needs to be addressed and reviewed for the next meeting.

Peace,
