There was a time when, for us to interact with other people we had to go out. Now, we can sit at home and use social media. We filter friendships and tend to surround ourselves with people that share our values and beliefs. There is value in being able to connect with a bigger social network, finding others who think like us, especially when we think we are all alone. There is value in connecting.

And, we can filter our social media too. So it seems a bigger world where we can find more people that think like us, and we can filter our and delete relationships with people who don’t. But surely there is some value in interacting with diverse groups of people and hearing something different.
