My eldest child came to a realization the other day. They shared that they need to be with other people. They shared that they cannot live without these relationships. The connection is others is what makes their life worth living. What a realization for a 10 year old to make. Sometimes I think about the realization that I made when I was 10. It was quite a life changing year for me. It was the year that I realized my dad had some major alcohol issues. Being a pre-tween is tough. Looking back on my own childhood takes quite a bit of mental fortitude to make sense of all the the emotionally tough situations I lived through. And, the older I get the more faded those memories are. One thing I know for sure, living through those moments is what made me into the person I am today.
Peace,
