The idea of being self-aware of one’s experience of acute distress is quite the feat when someone is barely hanging on. It’s quite a burden to bear for people may not be able to judge whether or not they are in it, much less get themselves together enough to reach out and ask for help or seek it out. Such is a problem of our current system of accessing help.
What kinds of system have we created of looking out for each other and building communities of trust where we can ask for help, and also where others will help us even when we are losing our shit? Because, sometimes asking for help leads to punishment, and sometimes we don’t even know who to ask or who is safe to ask.
Let’s stop normalizing the notion of being our best self everyday. Sometimes I’m my worst self and that should be okay.
You tell me.

Love,
Michelle D.
