Michelle Danda is a nurse who lives and works in the Lower Mainland, BC on the lands of the Qayqayt, Squamish, Tseil-Waututh, and Musquem peoples. She is a parent of 4 beautiful children. They are interested in health equity and social justice.
Michelle grew up in Ontario and Calgary, Alberta, and graduated from the University of Calgary in 2003 with degrees in sociology and psychology. After working as a youth care worker and behaviour therapist she returned to school, graduating from the baccalaureate nurse accelerated track program at the University of Calgary in 2008.
Lifelong learning is near and dear to their heart. Michelle completed a Master of Nursing in 2012 and a Master of Psychiatric Nursing in 2018. Their research focus was inpatient nurses experience of administering chemical restraint.
Michelle completed the Nursing PhD at the University of Alberta, graduating in June 2024. Her dissertation, The Evolution of Registered Psychiatric Nursing Education in British Columbia (1913-2012) focused on the history of Registered Psychiatric Nurse education at Riverview Hospital. Their research interest is nurse, hospital, and health care history in Canada.
